Tour Dates (Where the tour has gone and where it’s going)

Thank you to the thousands of people who came out to support the 2010 Community and Resistance Tour. The tour traveled through more than 50 cities, and featured a wide range of organizers, performers, media-makers, and artists. All of us who have participated in the tour have appreciated the opportunity to connect with grassroots activists and organizers in cities across the US and Canada.

We visited public school parents in Chicago who are demanding the city turn a building belonging to their local school into a library instead of selling it to a private school. We were hosted by anti-police brutality activists in Pittsburgh, immigrants-rights activists from Toronto to Tucson, the Garment Worker Center in Los Angeles, anarchist bookstores from Philadelphia to Austin, inspiring professors from CalArts to University of Vermont, and a community center in Madison. We shared the stage with soulful singer GaBrilla Ballard in Boston and with a Capoeira troupe in Durham. We stayed in inspiring and long-lasting collective houses in Syracuse, Baltimore and Worcester, at a yurt in Asheville, a geodesic dome in Chino Valley, and at the Highlander Center after our event in Knoxville.

These are just a small sample of the people we have connected with. We have tried to share some of their stories through our writing, and we hope to continue to find ways to support connections between different communities of resistance as we continue with this project.

Below is a listing of some of the cities we visited in 2010. To book any of the speakers from the Community and Resistance Tour for future events, please email neworleans (at) leftturn.org.
